The villain will be one of their professors, I'm not sure who: I'm between the Renown Alchemist professor (from the Magic card) and a professor who is secretly Murgaxor. They have to prove their inocence and catch the real villain and the Mage Hunter. The Mage Hunter goes around killing/paralyzing students, and people start thinking it's the party, because they were seen going to Sedgemoor. Which contained the first Mage Hunter! So ensues the Chamber of Secrets part of the story. In there, they find some sort of a magical cage, broken: the magics that corrupted the spring where used to break the cage. Whoever is doing these experiments did not build the dungeon: in fact, they find out that the dungeon is much older than the school. Whenever they do get to Sedgemoor, they find the spring corrputed by the evil energies of an underwater dungeon, where experiments are being done. For this, I have planned to re-skin Captain Dapplewing's quest as an infiltration quest into a suspected professor's quarters and gather evidence. However, I want to make the investigation slightly longer and more complex, so something like this: find out what the black sludge is -> find out where it comes from -> find out who delivers it -> find out who gets it from the swamp -> find out what's at the swamp. Compelled by a friendly professor, they will go investigate, on the down low. Once at Strixhaven, school shenanigangs ensue.īesides the Mimic, Frogs, Mephit and Owlbear events, I have a few more, related to the swamp. The spear had symbols on it, which read: "Long live the King", "Ruin" and "He is Coming". The dragon says: "Strixhaven mustn't fall" and the vision ends. So, with no further ado, the plot so far:įIRST YEAR: The characters get to Strixhaven, but before they do, they have a vision: Strixhaven in ruins, and a bronze dragon dying, impaled by a gigantic spear. *A conjunction of the ley lines: meaning emboldened magic powers This is a plotpoint that started in a previous campaign that was left unfinished, but since some of the players are the same, I wanted to add it back *A War of the Seasons: the Feywild is at war. Now, these are the following ideas I wanted to add: *Dreams of Carcosa (yeah, the strange city) *Mysterious enemy, hellbound on killing a whole family line *Raven Queen invested in the school's future *Strange visions, like caleidoscopic dreams So, with all that, these are the main plot points from their backstories I want to incorporate: Former lady of the night, dreams of ancient ruins and evil landscapes. *Melody: symic hybrid tiefling cleric of the light domain. Died once, when little, and had strange dreams of a city next to a sea of stars. *Lance: tiefling dragonblood sorcerer, parents killed by dragonborn paladins, raised by wood-elves. He wants to know if what happened at Zendikar will happen again, and if there's other people like him, whose feelings have been stolen. *Behzad: kor witch, who's had his feelings stolen. It spread like crazy and he decided that Strixhaven was the best place to find answers. That's all he's ever known, until a few months back, when a strange crystal spawne at his father's mine. The Raven Queen has used her as a spy, and in exchange she'll help her get her status back. *Eil: tiefling warlock of the Raven Queen, born to an aristocratic family of devils, her family was murdered by a rival House, and is looking to re-instate the power of her name. He's been persecuted by this enemy ever since. *Daken: a dragonborn Moonweaver (a homebrew class I made), whose family was hunted down and killed by a mysterious enemy long ago. Ashwind has been eeriely "helped" by a strange entity since childhood, and Garyx has problems with his sight: he sees unreal color patterns and shapes. Ashwind is a catfolk and Garyx a mousefolk. *Ashwind and Garyx: Neko Warlock and Toymaker Artificer adopted siblings. (It goes without saying that if one my players is reading this, please don't) So, after a lot of prep and two (mostly) succesful sessions, I have finished my outline and idea for the campaign, putting together a lot of ideas I've had floating through my head. When I wrote it I had two big things that I was clear on, and not much else: the PC's are some sort of chosen ones, and the endgame villain would be the Yellow King, Robert Chamber's godlike entity. So, a while back I posted here an outline of my idea for Strixhaven based off the HP books.
